Dear Franklin Families,

I want to thank our parents, students, staff and community members who were able to join us last night at our community forum on the new bell to bell cell phone ban law. There were about sixty in attendance and the input was very helpful to the Board as they consider the policy for our school district.

At the forum we read the exact language of the law and watched this video that explains the ban a little bit more. We then opened the floor for conversation, questions and suggestions about how to implement the law in Franklin.

The School Board Policy Committee will present the new policy to the full Board on Monday, August 25, 2025 at the regularly scheduled School Board meeting in the high school cafeteria. at 6:00. The Board has a public input agenda item at the beginning of every meeting if you are interested in coming to the meeting and sharing any thoughts you have on the new law and policy. I will be communicating out the new policy on Tuesday so everyone can prepare for the opening of school on September 2nd.

Thank you for all your support. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dan LeGallo
SAU 18 Superintendent

The end of the school year is nearing and the Franklin School Board would like to show our appreciation to the dedicated teachers of SAU 18. We are looking to assist the teachers in closing their classrooms for the summer during the week of June 16-20. We'd love to have parents join our efforts. If you have an hour or two during that week to help a teacher please complete the form below by June 10, so that we can organize everyone and will give teachers time to prepare for assistance before the end of the school year. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScyWSu2Zyr_AQnuA5I9Mof26AFx4cxR3DHPz7qENg8fZN4VIw/viewform Thank you for considering honoring our teachers in this special and meaningful way.

Good morning PSS Families, I am reaching out to let you know that the cleanup from the flood is moving along well but the Servpro crew needs an additional day tomorrow to complete their work. The elementary school will be closed again tomorrow. I appreciate your patience as we complete the clean up efforts to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for our students and staff. Dear Franklin Families and Staff, As you know, we had an issue with a pipe that caused a flood in the PSS Elementary School. ServPro is on site and will need at least 2 days to mitigate the issue. The Elementary school will be closed to Staff and Students on Tuesday and Wednesday with hopes of reopening on Thursday. The Franklin Parks and Recreation Department is making plans to accept PSS students Tuesday and Wednesday who are in the Rec Center’s before and after school program and registered for their summer programs. PSS Staff will be receiving an email from their Principal letting them know what to do in the next 2 days. Once again the Elementary School will be closed for Students and Staff Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dear Franklin Families and Staff, There has been a water main break on North Main Street and we are going to transport all Paul Smith Elementary students to the middle school gym and field for the day. You are welcome to pick them up, if you would like, at the middle school. They can however stay for the day. At the end of the day, please pick them up at the normal time, but at the middle school. Sincerely, Dan LeGallo Superintendent

Dear Franklin Families, I am reaching out to let you know that we will be implementing a new technology protocol starting tomorrow in the school district. We have noticed students logging onto their computers late at night (after 11 PM) trying to access non-educational sites. As a deterrent, we will be shutting down computer access from 11PM to 6AM starting tomorrow. The hope is that this will assist families in limiting the amount of screen time for our students as well as reinforcing good sleep habits. As always feel free to reach out with feedback or any questions. Sincerely, Dan LeGallo SAU 18 Superintendent
