Franklin High Students Take the Stage at Plymouth State University Theater Festival
Ten Franklin High School theater students spent an unforgettable day immersed in the world of college-level performing arts during the New Hampshire Educational Theatre Guild (NHETG) Theater Workshop Day, hosted at Plymouth State University. Franklin has been participating in this momentous day for over 30 years.
Throughout the day, students participated in five intensive theater workshops, exploring a wide range of disciplines including acting, directing, playwriting, technical theater, dance and more. Students were given an opportunity to pick workshops that would satisfy their own personal interests out of over 25 workshops that PSU offered. Each workshop was led by university faculty and advanced theater students, giving participants a firsthand look at the rigor and creativity of college-level training.
“This experience gave our students the opportunity to learn from professionals and collaborate with peers who share the same passion for theater,” said Franklin High School’s theater director. “It was exciting to see them push themselves artistically and gain confidence in their craft.” There were over 350 students from schools all over NH in attendance, all sharing their passion for the arts and learning.
In addition to the workshops, the day concluded with a special treat—students attended a performance of Plymouth State’s mainstage production of Noises Off. The farcical comedy, known for its fast-paced action and behind-the-scenes humor, provided inspiration and laughter as Franklin’s young performers watched college actors bring the chaotic world of theater to life.
The NHETG Theater Workshop Day serves as an annual opportunity for high school theater enthusiasts across New Hampshire to expand their skills, network with college programs, and celebrate their shared love of the performing arts.
For Franklin’s students, the day wasn’t just about learning new techniques—it was about envisioning the next act in their own artistic journeys.
