Dear Franklin Families,
I hope your new year is off to a great start! As part of our ongoing commitment to shaping well-rounded, compassionate, and future-ready students, I wanted to invite you to our community forum on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 6:00 in the Franklin Middle School cafeteria.
At this event, we will be sharing an update on our Portrait of a Graduate, a framework that highlights the key skills and values we aim to instill in our students. As we flip the calendar to 2025, we will be launching our focus on humanity component of the portrait and the practices of empathy, kindness, and social responsibility.
During this event, you will have the opportunity to learn about:
The Portrait of a Graduate framework and its impact on students and school programming so far.
Why the district is emphasizing the commitment to humanity this coming year.
Practical ways you can support these values at home and in the community including an invitation to join the Portrait of a Graduate Advisory.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students grow into well rounded and thoughtful individuals
Sincerely,
Dan LeGallo
Superintendent
This week, third graders from Mrs. Farmer's class performed two readers' theaters for other classes! Readers' theater helps students practice their reading, improve fluency, and have fun at the same time!

PSS was visited by students from the Holderness School today. Our visitors dropped off a donation of winter clothing for PSS students to use while playing in the snow.

Please consider a donation to Donor's Choose to help us as we continue to purchase items for our three amazing makerspaces!

During the last few weeks at Paul Smith Elementary students have been working on learning about school citizenship and being a part of taking ownership of caring for our school. Our amazing custodian, Mr. Dave, observed that several students were really becoming leaders in helping and encouraging others to take care of the school. Today, four of those leaders were randomly selected to 'pie' four PSS staff members. Thank you to Mr. Dave, Ms. St Cyr, Mrs. Kent and Mr. Lewis for helping to celebrate the hard work of students at PSS.

Hailey, and Mr. and Mrs. Cole represented Paul Smith Elementary at the SAU 18 School Board meeting. The trio conducted a presentation highlighting the learning students are experiencing with our Sphero robots. Topics such as STEM and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) were covered.

Congratulations to the Franklin Middle School Robotics Team for qualifying for the state competition on December 7, 2024! A big shout out to Tanner Laro, Ben Bacon, Mason Vandell, Kyle Hickey-Pfaefflin, Mason Cass and Elliot Therrien and & Coaches- Lilly Bacon and Laurie Cass!
